GOOGLE CHROME

Google Chrome is the browser developed by the biggest search engine “Google” the initial release date of Chrome is in 2008 and has been updated regularly to patch security holes and updates its features. It is one of the most popular browsers around following the likes of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera Mini and host of other browsers available which you can choose from.

It has a version for the different operating system such as windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, Android it is built on Webkit, Chrome v8 and blink engines.

Chrome is desirable because of its lightning speed in browsing and stability in network fluctuating areas, it uses multithreading to handle multiple tasks for the user making
the browser really fast and secure. The chrome v8 is a javascript virtual machine from Denmark with the sole aim of making Chrome faster. Chrome has also included a task bar that can enable you to find ongoing processes and kill/terminate some processes if you which just to make things faster. Chrome also comes with Omnibox which helps to suggest word as you type in the address bar, you can as well search using the address bar. It also has the screenshot of sites you recently visited.

Chrome also has the incognito mode which helps you to browse without anything being gotten from your cookies, nor history.

Google Chrome also has the functionality of allowing the user to open tabs that are mistakenly closed, to do this just right-click on any of the tab still open and you will see the option in the drop-down menu, just click it or press the shortcut keys Ctrl+Shift+T. in the drop down you can also see other options like duplicate (To duplicate the tab), Reload, Pin Tab and other options shown below.

For Mac users you can quickly and easily read through another tab just hold down the command key and then any number from one to nine where one to nine represents different tabs counting the tabs from left to right with the number one being the first tab from left, you can navigate through the tabs till the ninth tab respectively.

Chrome gives you the privilege to just drag and drop links in the bookmark bar with ease, hence making bookmarking easy.

With chrome you can create a profile for your kids. This profile helps you see and control what they read and monitor where they visit online.

Chrome has some hidden pages to where you can read up about specific setting or feature. To access see the full list of this pages enter the following urlsin your address bar/omnibox chrome://chrome-urls. Someof the pages are for debugging and you can as well find most of the pages in the chrome setting options.

Chrome gives you the privilege of zooming in and out by holding down the control key and scrolling up (for zooming in) or scrolling down (for zomming out). You can also achieve this by holding the control key and pressing the Plus or Minus button for zoom-in and zoom-out respectively. You can always hit the reset to return to the normal 100%. On Mac you can press the command button with plus or minus for zooming in/out respectively. Command and zero returns to the default size.

Chrome comes with a game called T-Rex. Though this game feature is hidden which you can play offline by just entering the URL: chrome://network-error/-106or you can open a new tab after disconnecting from the internet. When you enter the URL chrome will prompt a message “unable to connect to the internet”, just hit the spacebar to start playing and use the spacebar to jump over the cacti and vultures on the runway. The game is really interesting though.

You can always change the default theme for chrome browser by going to chrome store and downloading the themes which are mostly free. If you wish to change the default background go to chrome://apps.
